Petula ClarkWhenever Valentine’s Day comes I always remember Petula Clark. She was one of my favorite British singers in my younger years. She sang “Funny Valentine” or was that “My Funny Valentine”? I can’t remember too well now. Many crooners sang that song but it was Petula Clark’s own rendition that I appreciated the most. It’s like a ghost song from the past that is resurrected every Valentine’s Day. I didn’t even care to find out if Ms. Clark is still alive or not today but her name spring out to mind during V-Day.

After the song follows the old movie “Finian’s Rainbow” starred in by Fred Astaire and Pet Clark though I forgot the actor she was paired with. In that flick she is very much alive with her songs, dances and the scenes are vividly replayed from memory which still makes me smile today. Hundreds of love songs are played on the airwaves and her “Funny Valentine” is still one that stuck with me.

I guess some of us have been at one time touched by something and ihappy valentinest was that song that did it for me. Well, it’s been cached there in my mind among my other sentimental memories. I know soon enough that another one or two will pop up if jarred and I’m gonna have yet another walk down memory lane. At least it proves that I’m not senile yet.
